Social Distance
社交距离
2020

With the development of technology, we gradually become adapted to communication that centers on screens. During the pandemic, this form of socializing is further advocated when we are asked to stay at home, have classes online, and interact with each other via the internet.

We selectively present information about ourselves through these screens, remodeling our bodies and redefining our personalities. Sometimes, these screens also become the only way to get to know each other. We are so dependent on these flickering screens, devouringly absorbing the fragments of information that are edited, filtered, or delivered based on personal preference analysis.

As we changed from face-to-face communication to screen-to-screen connections, have we ever wondered how the human relationship would proceed until it reached the very end? Or, will it ever reach a final destination? Are we continuously breaking through the boundary of information exchange, obtaining data across space and time, or are we gradually building a cage that will ultimately trap our mind, enclosing it in an information-rich yet otherwise void, meaningless space?
